Charles G. Richards started in the financial service industry in 1996 as young entrepreneur from the town of Swartz Creek, Michigan, 45 minutes northwest of Detroit.
Chuck saw the writing on the wall early on for middle income families when it comes to their financial security. As more and more companies slash benefits or drop them all together to stay viable, working families find themselves lost in the brave new world of benefit choices. No longer protected by large company HR departments, they must now wade through the offerings of dozens of individual programs. Alone in a twisted maze of co pays, deductibles, coinsurances and exclusions, families often make choices that leave them owing thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars in the event of a serious accident or illness in the family.
Based on a deeply rooted belief that families had a right to fair, independent and knowledgeable advice, Chuck Richards began to guide families to better and more reliable programs.
Chuck’s passion for quality and integrity in lifestyle protection programs was galvanized in the year 2002 when his infant daughter spent 20 days in intensive care at the University of Michigan hospital. This left the Richards’ family facing a $230,000 hospital bill. Fortunately they had a well-written health insurance plan that protected them.
Chuck knew that some 80% of the health plans available could have left them owing tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. He also knew that on the face, it was very hard to tell these plans apart. He constantly ran into families in a difficult financial position from choosing a health plan that seemed excellent on the surface, but the reality was nothing short of nightmarish. Incidentally, medical bills have now become the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S.
Chuck’s solution is education! We must know and understand financial planning 101 “ Don’t build a house on sand.” Financial security starts with a solid foundation that protects our most valuable asset “our ability to work”. Here in Michigan over 90% of the people spend more money insuring their cars then they do their income (A serious concern). We have developed plans that focus on real problems that offer real solutions. I will maintain the original old-fashioned values of personalized service and concern for my client.
